Japanese saws
Japanese saws are finding more and more popularity in every kind of manual woodworking due to their excellent cutting performance. Since European saws require pressure to make a cut, the blade (such as a cross-cut saw) must be thick enough to withstand the pressure placed on it. Japanese saws, however, cut on tension. This means that their stress is much less and the blade can be much thinner. A thin slice produces less sawdust than a thick slice and consequently cuts faster with less effort on the part of the user.
